
About Wendy Davis Johnson
Bermudian Wendy Davis Johnson has more than 30 years’ executive-level experience in strategic communications, brand development and organizational development.
Reporting to Brian Duperreault in his role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Insurance Group, Wendy led strategic communications for seven years, first as a consultant and then as Chief Communications Officer with responsibility for internal, external and financial communications as well as culture.
Prior to joining Hamilton, Wendy provided consulting services to corporate and non-profit organizations, assisting with the development of global brands, establishing strategic communications functions and overseeing the development of non-profit and philanthropic initiatives. During this time, she oversaw Argo Group’s rebranding as well as the establishment of The Argo Foundation, Argo Group’s philanthropic arm in Bermuda.
From 1997 to 2004, Wendy held the position of Director and then Senior Vice President, Global Communications at ACE Group (now Chubb). In this role, and reporting to Brian in his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, she supported M&A activity, culminating in ACE’s acquisition of CIGNA’s domestic and international property casualty operations.
From 1993 to 1997, Wendy was Manager and then Executive Director of the Bermuda International Business Association (now Bermuda Development Agency) with responsibility for overseeing the promotion of Bermuda as an international business jurisdiction. She was employed at the Bermuda Department of Tourism from 1987-1993 as Manager, Communications.
Wendy is a founding member of the Insurance Careers Movement and a past member of the Insurance Development Forum’s Microinsurance Working Group. She currently sits on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee of the Board of Trustees, Saltus Grammar School, Bermuda. As a member of the Performing Arts Campaign Cabinet at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada, Wendy participated in the successful $40 million capital campaign in support of Dalhousie’s Fountain School of the Performing Arts.
Wendy holds a Master of Liberal Arts, Journalism, (Harvard University), a Bachelor of Education (University of Toronto, Ontario) and a Bachelor of Arts (Dalhousie University).
